Does HD video quality on a smartphone matter?

Does the video quality when streaming movies on your smartphone matter after a certain point?

My reason for this question stems from AT&T's new "stream saver" feature. If I get the new Galaxy S8 will I be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p or even 480p streaming on the phone?

My concern isn't about data usage but more about realistic viewable quality.

you mean watching it on your phone?

or streaming it to a tv etc

watching it on your phone not sure after its at a decent level that going higher will show a huge improvement

On your phone I doubt you would notice much difference between 1080 and 720p but in my experience the difference between 1080 and 480 is noticeable.

then as said i think over a certain point the difference would be minor

though of course your eyesight will play some part as well

but pretty easy to test by loading a few small videos on your phone at different resolutions to see
