So my Alienware 13 laptop with Windows 10 recently became quite buggy with grainy sound and it generally became slow so I decided to perform a factory reset however I'm not able to as when I'm done it says no changes were made.

I would also like to add that I have a cracked screen on my laptop so I use an external monitor to see what's going on, on the screen.

factory reset might have left you with no screen as it may have reverted to using onboard screen as well.

You might be best doing a clean install- have you backed up everything you want to save? if not, you can try making this on another PC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/
Also, on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to...

When you encounter an issue with the OS being slow/buggy, it's best you either:
a| Perform a repair install
or
b| make a clean installation after (re)creating the bootable USB installer via Windows Media Creation Tool.
The OS sees multiple updates and revisions which why instead of working with an older installation, best to recreate with the latest ISO available off Microsoft's servers.

fresh install should see the screen attached and maybe use it instead of your cracked one. I don't know for sure.

does it have a msata cache drive + a hdd as boot drive? if it does, you will need to set up Intel Rapid Storage Technology again as though bios maybe set as raid the hdd won't know the msata is there.
