If the monitor utilizes 120hz via VGA; you'll just need to play around with the resolutions to figure out what one works best. For example; I had a 120hz monitor that only ran said refresh rate at a resolution close to 1600x1200.

It did for my buds BenQ XL27 monitor (1440p 144hz). He bought the monitor before he upgraded his GPU so he tried running a converter and it didn't work. He was able to squeeze out a 1080 resolution via VGA @ 100hz on a different monitor (ASUS VG24 I believe), however.

But I will be still able to squeze out like 85hz or just try playing csgo on lower resolution, because monitor supports bunch of them.
