i5 3570K still viable for modern GPUs?

Hey people, I have an i5 3570k and I would like to know if this processor is still able to fully support a modern GPU like RX 470 / nVIDIA 1070.

I don't plan to run anything on more than 1080p, but I would like to go for the highest graphic settings if possible.

Nice to know.

But I must say that I don't use the overclocking function, just the standard Intel TurboBoost (it goes for 3.80 GHz).

My good old 660 Ti SC is struggling to run the most modern games at high settings.

Either way it is still powerful. Both the RX 470 and 1070 are great cards and will be paired perfectly to the cpu. 1080p is the least you will go for

Nice to know. Thanks.

I use a Core i5-3450 overclocked to 3.9 GHz, ie. basically the same as your stock 3570K, and it works well with an R9 290 (which is more powerful than the RX 470). Both for games at 1080p and in VR.

If/when you go for something like a GTX 1080 Ti, it might be about time for a CPU upgrade as well.
