So, here I am, trying to update a game on Steam. Up pops this error : http://imgur.com/Gp2luUj
So, I navigate to the affected file, when midway through : http://imgur.com/o5XfVhK
Investigating further : http://imgur.com/QEUXB3q
I'm the only user and I am an administator. I click advanced, as it says that it could not display the owner of the file. http://imgur.com/xc3IWLJ
Then it says I don't have permission to change its permissions : http://imgur.com/2nG1CJC
I googled to try and find a solution, I find this thread (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/windows-7-admin-doesnt-have-permission/d9b6c0d7-59e1-45dc-8a5e-1692cf1e86ca)
I try the command prompt, and http://imgur.com/deAxIZX
So I quickly try and execute an action that requires administator powers, and it works. Any help would be appreciated.

You might need to change the permissions of the folder first. Like I said, it may take some experimenting to find what will work this time, but probably not the next time you run into this type of problem.

Windows 10 makes it very hard to modify files or write to the Program Files directories. It is possible to do, but will require some experimenting with folder permissions, etc.
Personally, I made sure that Steam installed in a separate Games folder to prevent this kind of problem.

I do concede that I should have made a separate folder on my SSD for Steam, but I can't even delete the file, let alone update the game. I'm trying to fix this issue without needing to reinstall the game. And the thing is, the larger issue I see is that Windows doesn;t recognize me as an administrator, as shown when I attempted the command prompt fix.
