There should be 2 options when booting from the use, a uefi and non-uefi options.
Failing that, if you have the ISO, use Rufus to create a bootable usb and select the mbr option.

Yes, that's what I actually did, I even used rufus to create bootable usb. but I only did it for uefi systems which worked for me. I wanted to install windows for my friend and I realized her laptop did not support UEFI. so made bootable usb for mbr.
