Monitor doesn't display correct resolution/aspect ratio - black bars on side

My monitor has been working fine for at least 2 years, and my brother was using it (I'm not sure what he did, he was trying to press Alt+Tab and forgot the combination) and all of a sudden the screen looks like that. The software side is fine, the resolution is set to 2560x1440 yet it looks as if it's a 4:3 aspect ratio, at like 1600x1440 or something. I tried the VGA input instead of DVI and it looks the same. When I boot up and go to the BIOS, it also looks similar, but I'm not sure if the BIOS supports widescreen. No options in the OSD offer any help. Consequently I feel like it's a hardware issue but I'm not sure. It's not the cable, because VGA did the same thing as DVI. Could it be my GPU?? Do you guys have any suggestions?

Go into your monitor settings and do a factory reset. Your monitor is actually a 1440 resolution one correct? What is the model of it?
