Where is my SSD space going?

Hi,

I have a 250GB (232GB on Windows) Samsung 850 Evo SSD. In 'This PC' it says I have used exactly 100GB (which I was surprised about) yet in on the drive the total data amounts to around 40GB.

My question is where has that other 60GB went?

You're missing a whole bunch of stuff.

Install and run WinDirStat to help discover where your space is going.

Also, Restore Points, pagefile, hibernation file may not be seen in what youu have selected.
Most of the time you will have 30gigs or more of System Restore file.
Then another 5-10 gig in windows update uninstall files.
Hibernate files 1-2 gig
Several gigs used by shadow copy
And all of these are hidden system files so they do not show up or count in the visible used screen.

I'm an idiot! I completely forgot I had installed Forza Horizon 3 which doesn't show up at all and that's about 60GB (LOL). It comes under 'Windows Apps' which is hidden in This PC but shows when using WinDirStat. Thanks guys!

I have a 6GB hibernation file and a 15GB Windows.old folder (which is apparently from upgrading from an older OS) but this was a fresh install of Windows 10.

Should I delete the hibernation file and the Windows.old folder?

Turn hibernation OFF like this:

Windows.old gets deleted from Disk Cleanup.
