Dual Core Intel® Xeon® processor 3070
Dual Core Intel® Xeon® processor 3000 Series (2.66GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, 65W, LGA775)

Hi, i know the chipset is LGA 775, but none of the LGA 775 boards i've looked at (all on newegg.com) list the xeon series as a compatible CPU. Is this just an oversight? or do the xeons need special LGA 775 motherboards? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any board thats compatible with the C2Ds is compatable with the 3xxx series of xeons, since there just higher binned C2Ds that have been aproved for server use.

But you wouldn't want to use any other chipset than the ones i've mentioned right now anyways

disclaimer: that doesn't apply to future released chipsets

In my review of the Xeon 3060 (can be seen here and here) I mentioned that any good quality 965 or 975 board should support the chip. That and its basically identical to the corresponding E6XXX series chip, unless you plan to do serious OCing.
