HDMI 2.0 Booster - What are the downsides?

Hi All

My question is does using a HDMI 2.0 booster have any downsides, particularly for gaming (thinking lag)?

The reason I ask is I am considering upgrading both my gaming PC and the living room TV over the summer. The PC has its own room and I am looking at a 1080Ti setup with 1440p 144Hz, however if I get a 4K TV it would also be nice to have the option of 4K 60Hz in the living room but that would mean using a HDMI cable of about 15-20m. Having used a 10m HDMI cable before without a booster for other purposes I know some TV's don't even like a 10m cable, I know quality of the cable matters but it was a fairly decent cable, I therefore doubt a 15 or 20m setup will work without a booster.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hdmi was never intended to go further than 5m on a passive cable. A booster might work but it's still not going to be optimal.

Nope, unless you consider the extra wires a mess or the extra $0.10 a year in electricity costs.
