A quick question,if the harddrive was faulty, would that make programs on SSD slow down as well? Windows and chrome stop responding + winrar extract times are much longer than they were before (on SSD also).

I think so; Windows is using both SSD and HD fairly continuously. Have you recent, current, backup images on external media? Before hardware/software testing the problematic HD, please ensure having restorable image backups of your OS and Data partitions.

If you have a pagefile or system temporary directory on the HDD, yes a flaky HDD will slow down the SSD. Programs like Winrar first extract to the temporary directory, then copy/move the extracted files from the temp directory to their final destination. The HDD can also slow down the system if it's malfunctioning and taking a long time to respond to filesystem requests (these generally show up as the entire system freezing, not just the SSD).

Anyhow, it's simple enough to test. Temporarily disconnect the HDD's SATA cable from the computer. Then boot and see if your SSD's speed is back up to normal.
