This question is more out of curiosity.
I have an old WD 320GB HDD USB 2.0 that started to make a weird clicking sound and can't be detected by the computer. It's quite obvious that the drive is having some difficulties.
What I don't understand is the fact that it does work when I plug it into a 3.0 port and it doesn't make any sound, yet when I plug it into any USB 2.0 it doesn't work. Why?
P.S I already replaced my drive with a new one to save my old files.
