about cpu moniters

since newer tvs can be used as desktop moniter as well? can montiers be used as tvs? say if my tv's broken, then can i watch the dvd's without internet cpu tower? but use desktop minters as tvs? as long as i can get a special cord?

Yeah, you can you any type of display for anything if you have the right cables.

This really depends on the connectors present on your cable box/dvd player and monitor.

Converting from Composite to VGA, DVI or HDMI doesn't usually work very well.

Converting from Component to VGA, DVI or HDMI doesn't usually work very well either.

An HDMI output from your device to an HDMI input on your monitor would work.
