No Icons on taskbar, desktop, or explorer

Today when I turned on my computer, I noticed that all my desktop shortcuts had no icon, and that the taskbar shortcuts were set to the default application icon. In case anyone is wondering, didn't recently make any changes to my computer in hardware or software. I am not really sure how to go about trying to fix this. Any help would be appreciated. You'll need to delete and recreate/rebuild the icon cache file.

I did this, but when i signed off and logged back in, it didn't fix it and now when I check the folder it still has no icon cache files in it

Have you recently modified (removed) the shortcut arrow displayed at the bottom/left of the icons for shortcuts? Any other recent icon modifications? If so, restore it back to normal then reboot.

i did that while back, i dont see why that would make it different now

[I have seen a case before] and when the shortcut arrows were restored, it fixed the system.

It may work, may not. It's worth a try.
