Hello,

I am observing some strange behaviour with my CPU. It is a overclocked Ryzen 1800x (3.9Ghz, 1.375V) sitting in an Asrock X370 Professional Gaming mobo.

On starting Prime95 small FFT, for about the first 10-20 minutes or so of the torture test, everything seems good, temps are really low (about 45 degree) and total watt usage is about 85. Temp/power usage is consistently at these levels from Prime95 start to about 10-20 minute mark, and doesnt stray much

Ill be watching the temp/watt usage, and suddenly the temp/watt usage will shoot up to about 65 degree and total watt usage to about 145. This will happen sometime during the 10-20 minute window after Prime95 starts. It will happen quickly (about 20 seconds to ramp up)

Why is the CPU exhibiting this quick change in power usage? The workload hasn't changed at all, CPU speed is the same...really nothing has changed, yet it ramps up to almost double the power usage almost instantly. Why is it doing this? Is the 145 watt usage acceptable?

Here is a screenshot of HWinfo, first one is "low mode" second is "ramped mode" (note that the temps here have 20 degree Ryzen 1700x/1800x offset included, so -20 degree from the value seen to get real temp)
