RAM usage over 12 gigs while idle

It's all in your non-paged pool. I'm gonna say you've got a memory leak on your hands. A program(s) are using all the RAM but not releasing them like they should, so they just keep using up more. Have you only installed a new app/program recently prior to this happening?

I suggest you read up on this if you are not familiar with Memory leaks > http://www.pcgamer.com/dealing-with-memory-leaks/.

In resource monitor (the 3rd screenshot you provided) try searching by "Private allocation". See if anything is using way more than it should.

Other than that i noticed you have Killer networking suite installed. This honestly causes more memory leaks then any other program i know, very common. I suggest you uninstall it (not the Realtek network drivers though, just the Killer networking tool), then reboot your system to be sure. I have actually had this be an issue in a build myself and helped others by getting rid of this in the past. You don't need it, it's just a useless monitoring tool not the Ethernet driver itself.

if on the bizarre chance its not killer as its well known for memory leaks, you could Download Process explorer and run it as admin (it comes from Microsoft so its safe)

the default view is tree structure meaning like your task manager screen, it will show what processes are under each service, but unlike task manager, it shows the ram usage of each part so you can see what is eating your ram

Private bytes = actual ram usage
Working set = Ram + page file usage

This page shows what all the colours and headings mean, link at bottom of it shows how to use it to find problems. You can right click headers and run an av scan from within the program.

right click the header line of Process explorer and choose select columns
choose the Process memory tab
click/select Paged pool and Nonpaged pool & click okay
that will add two columns to process explorer that show the two parts where your resources are being chewed up and may show the process that is responsible - you can drag the columns across so they right next to Private Bytes and working set

Try doing a clean boot and see if it changes anything - if it does, it will tell us if its a start up program, just slowly add them to find the cause

Win 10 ram will fill up as you use programs during day, but fact yours is all non paged leads me to believe its a driver leak still. A memory leak occurs when a process allocates memory from the paged or nonpaged pools, but does not free the memory. As a result, these limited pools of memory are depleted over time, causing Windows to slow down. If memory is completely depleted, failures may result.

in task manager/performance tab, click open resource monitor and scroll down to the memory tab and sort it by commit or private bytes. to me the ram is only half of it as you also appear to have used all your page file as well. The memory tab on top row shows the same thing.

512 still higher than mine but the 471 is close... much better than 15.1gb .. weirdest part is it didn't show anywhere though if you had added the columns while it was still there, we might know now. If it ever happens again, try to think what you had open though I still think it was a driver.

Are you running Process explore as admin? Next time it happens, click on the yellow Private bytes header and that will sort entire program by that column and might show a bit more - There has to be something big as a 100 000 k isn't really that much. I would expat it to be much bigger than that.

when you say you restored system, was that a reset or a fresh install? Did you update all the drivers on your motherboards web site?

trying to work out what Intel Technology access Service is, is this a laptop?

Thank you for your inquiry.
Intel® Technology Access exposes the 2-in-1 sensor and display setting detection to the browser applications using web services. The 2-in-1 sensor determines the mode of a device (for example: tablet mode or clamshell mode). The Display settings detect and get the screen resolution and orientation values.
It also exposes the Microsoft Windows 8.x* COM sensors accelerometer, ambient light, compass, inclinometer & orientation.

Which means that is us for touch screen using Windows OS.

might want to upgrade drivers maybe?

think I was being side tracked 211k isn't a massive figure. 171 000 k is really only 171 MB and yet you are losing GB of ram and its not showing us where. I don't think all the programs you have open now in Process explorer add up to whats missing.

have you run AV & Malwarescans?

i wonder if checking the ram itself with memtest86 would answer any questions. I am not sure, its not that you get memory management errors, you just run out of resources

A fresh install is chewing up ram? what drivers did you install?

what are specs of PC? might have to do some digging...

I don't exactly know how poolmon works myself. I have looked at instructions and videos on how it works and i still don't know. I see where you enter the code, Registry is one place i don't go in very often so not sure why it doesn't allow you to enter figure (not really being much help). did you make sure base was in hex and not decimal?

this would help if you could get past the tag stage
