Should I upgrade my CPU / Mobo or should I buy a fancy monitor?

I recently got a 1080 Ti from MSI
Right now I have:
MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X
i7-4790K - H75 cpu cooler
Asus Z97-A Motherboard
16GB DDR3 Ram
750W PSU
BenQ 144hz 1080p monitor

The CPU / MOBO / RAM combo I am looking at is:
i7-7700K
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING (can change)
16GB DDR4 Ram

The monitor I am interested in is an ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q.

Which one would be the best to get?
Both the options cost $800.

No matter which one I get now, I might be able to get the other option too, in a few months. Which one would i then go for first?

Personally I would suggest getting the monitor and ignoring the other upgrade option. Likelihood is you wouldn't really see a huge improvement with respect to gameplay.

the monitor upgrade will be easy to see and enjoy daily, the other upgrades you will have to benchmark to find any real differences and who wants to do that.

no, like i said they are so close that you are better off saving the money and just simply overclocking the cpu a bit
