Athlon X4 845 with a 1050ti

Hi, wanted to ask if it will be worth it upgrading from an A4 6300 to an Athlon X4 845? I am now experiencing hardcore bottleneck (100 % CPU and 40% GPU Max)with my A4 6300.I have a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB.

  1. If you can do it cheaply (<$40 or so), it should be a solid boost.

You'll likely still experience some slight bottlenecking, as the 845 isn't the best chip either, but it should be reduced by a decent margin.
And x4 860K is a decent option too.

****You'll have to make sure your motherboard is compatible though.*****

With an A4-6300 (FM2 chip), I assume your board is FM2.
    The 845 (and 860K) are FM2+.

FM2 chips will work on an FM2+ motherboard (just doesn't use all the connectors/pins)
    BUT
FM2+ chips will not fit FM2 boards (too many pins on the chip)

I have an ASRock FM2A58M-VG3+. With the A4 bottlenecking my GPU , it's not possible playing games like ARK or GTA5. Could I play with 845 these games?

  3. That's an FM2+ board, yes you could. Not going to be the best experience in the world, but more than playable with an 845 or 860k

  5. As an addition, check if you need to update your BIOS for the x4 845 to work as it requires BIOS version P2.60.
