Hello,
I want to upgrade my CPU from an Athlon X4 860k to something better to run the new upcoming games. I have £230, i can either buy/save up for,

AMD FX-8350 and MSI 970 Gaiming motherboard. - £188
OR
AMD Ryzen 5 1500x and GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 motherboard. BUT i have to buy new ddr4 ram. - £316

Which should i save up for/buy/

Thanks

I have an 8350 at 4.4 on a Sabertooth board.
In a month or two I'm upgrading to a Ryzen system, if that tells you anything.
Just letting bios snd micro code updates mature along with faster ram support.
Ryzen loves fast ram apparently.

Coming from someone who has an Intel CPU that he loves(sorta odd in'it?) in his gaming rig along with a Nvidia GFX card the choice is easy. I've pretty much always used an Intel CPU. THe 2500K from long ago? Intel just knew how to build a solid gaming chip. The 4690K from 2 or 3 years ago? A solid performer still today. It marries nicely with the 1070. So of course the only chip I will suggest is the Ryzen. I'd bite the bullet a little harder if at all possible and go for the 1600. The extra $50 is most certainly worth it imo. Building a PC with the 8350 is an exercise in futility. It has no future. The upgrade path isn't there. Its obsolescence is blinding, even to Father Time.
