hey guys,

I currently have 1 24 inch 144hz monitor and I'm loving it. Lately I'm thinking of getting another monitor, and I'm actually thinking if I could buy a bigger one (and make it my main monitor).

So my question is - are there any decently priced 144hz monitors bigger than 24inch? I'm in Europe and I see "entry level budget" 24inch ones for 250-300 euros, but the next - a 27inch one was already 600+ eur. Is this a trend with such monitors that the price jumps a lot for bigger 144hz monitors or I just found an expensive one?

I don't mind paying a little bit more, but double the price seems excesive tbh...

600 Euro certainly sounds closer to 1440P@144hz, that's for sure.

A GTX 1060 will have a decent go at either 1440P, OR 144hz, but not both 1440P @ 144hz. At least not in new/demanding titles with decent detail settings. Have you seen any 27" 1080P displays? The pixels are fairly visible to the point that some people can't stand them. It's really a personal/preference thing though.

I assume you're keen to stick with 144hz gaming? Because a 27' 60hz 1440P display would give you another option. Then at least you could...

They shouldn't be that much more expensive if you're looking at 1080P 27" displays. What's your specific region?

For reference, here's a US PCPartPicker list (US site tends to be more up-to-date in my experience) of 144hz+ displays of >24": https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#H=144,240&W=2450,5500&sort=price&page=1
27" displays start at $280USD

What graphics card do you have? Have you explored Freesync/GSync displays at all? Are you interested in an ultra-wide? Higher resolution? There's actually quite a few valid options for gaming displays at the moment, it all depends on what you prioritise.

Ahh, true, I might have looked at 1440p, that could part of the explanation. I'm running a gtx 1060. My main focus I think is a bigger screen in size - not sure I could run a bigger screen with 1440p with my card.

I assume you're keen to stick with 144hz gaming? Because a 27' 60hz 1440P display would give you another option. Then at least you could choose which monitor is best depending on the game. Faster paced games are better suited to 144hz, but slower-paced strategy or cinematic games might be better on a 27" 1440P. Still, most people get one or the other, not both.

Monitor tech is pushing forward at a pretty good pace right now. There's some really special 1440P ultra wide displays with Free/Gsync that will continue to drop in price. You have a pretty well suited GPU+Monitor partnership right now, you might actually be better off saving your money and then when you look to upgrade your GPU in a couple of years, spending it then to get a new and better matching monitor+GPU combo.
