Type "restore" into search then launch "Create a Restore Point"

It works by backing up critical files, recent changes etc. If you roll back to a Restore Point it deletes any programs installed SINCE that time but keeps files.

You want to have this feature enabled so that Windows will periodically make Restore Points but I suggest if things are working well and if it's been running good for a while that you DELETE all restore points and make a new one (as times goes on there's an increasing chance that rolling back will cause issues).

Note that when you try to RESTORE to an earlier point it will tell you the programs affected. You should write any of those down you...

ANOTHER option is "Reset this PC" if the above doesn't fix any glitches or issues. I won't go into detail on that now but done correctly it can REINSTALL critical files, reset things to fix issues but not necessarily delete any programs or data.

Finally, none of this is a substitute for doing a full BACKUP solution like using Acronis True Image. I have my Windows (C-drive) set to backup every week using a FULL + Incremental scheme. I won't go into detail on that either, but basically you can RESTORE to exactly where you where (Note that using a Restore Point should be tried first if you just tried something and it gave you a glitch and there's a Restore Point shortly before it).

What does "critical files" mean, like every saved file, games, steam, pictures, and programs and will it save the stuff on both storage devices (M.2 has the OS and the HDD just other files)

So I would have to use a cloud based storage or external storage to save the rest right?

Ok so I found these guides, one is a guide on how to do a system restore point
http://www.windowscentral.com/how-configure-system-restore-windows-10

And another guide that backs up the files and it looks like it backs up your OS to, but it says something about

"I use the System Image Backup to make a base backup of my PC, which includes the installation of Windows, all the latest updates, special configurations, and programs. For file backup, I use File History and OneDrive. Performing a backup this way will avoid duplicate files and an always up to date copy of all my documents."

So does this mean it will only save updates, OS and my games and steam, but will I have to use onedrive or something like that to save files

Thanks
