Hi everyone,

I'm planning my new build and would like to sell my old rig. What do you think this could go for (prices in USD)?

  • Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core - 75$
    Corsair H100i - 30$
    Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS ATX LGA1155 - 35$
    Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 - 60$
    Samsung 840 EVO 1TB 2.5" - 175$
    Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM - 20$
    Gigabyte GTX 680 2GB GV-N680OC-2GD - 75$
    Corsair Carbide 400R - 40$
    Corsair TX750 V2 750W - 35$
    LG WH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer - 20$
The total comes up to 565$, so I figure this could go for 450$? Is that reasonable?

I think it's quite reasonable. You might even be conservative on some of these parts. If you check on eBay, for example, you'll find actual bids for used 3770k CPUs at twice that $75 (bids, not just buyitnow requests). I actually think you'll beat $450.

You would be better off selling the components individually instead of as a whole rig. As a whole rig you at best would probably only get about $350-$400 for it. You have two options: list it as a complete system and see what hits you get. If none, then turn to parting it out.

Thanks for your answer! I was thinking about this as well, I might be able to get more money out of this build if I sell parts individually. Worst case, I don't sell everything, but the total amount might be more interesting.

Thanks for your answer! I agree, although not selling the CD drive is not a concern. I could just put it as a freebie.

Thanks for your answer! I guess I could sell parts individually and base myself on eBay bids. I may get more money out of some of these parts (namely the CPU and the SSD) than selling the rig as a whole.

I think I'd still try as a whole first. The thing is, this was a very balanced, well thought-out build, something we don't see that often in these selling posts.

Thanks! It still performs very well, but there's this urge inside of me to get up to date. I guess I'll try selling it as a whole first. It's not like I'm waiting to sell this rig before building the new one, so I'm not in a hurry.
