Wait for i7-7740k or buy a i7-7700k now?

Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my ageing i7-3770, I've done a little bit of research and I've heard of a rumored i7-7740k on the upcoming Skylake X platform. On paper the i7-7740k seems like a slight base/boost core buff, however since it's going to be on X299 would there be any other benefits? Asus are currently running a cashback scheme here in the UK where you get £80 for purchasing one of their motherboards alongside a i7-7700k and although this seems like a great deal, it makes me feel as though the next CPU releases are going to completely obsolete the current platforms.

7700k is LGA 1151, while 7740k is LGA 2066

7740k is stated to come without igpu
should clock higher n theoretically be cooler
and at the very least will make 7700k cheaper
