Hello, I need to upgrade from my windows 7 to a windows 10 from CD. Can i buy a fresh new CD of Windows 10 stick it in my pc and it will instantly update it?
ANd will it be a fresh install??

I think currently you can't upgrade with a CD or DVD to windows 10 without installing it. So either if you can, do the fresh install.

if you want a fresh install you will need to boot PC from the Win 10 CD
change boot order in BIOS so DVD is first, hdd second
boot from installer

On the screen where you choose where to install win 10, if it gives you an error about GPT drives, delete all the partitions on the hdd and press next. If it still gives error, cancel out of the installer and restart PC and start installer again, it will accept next on that screen this time (some PC just need a restart here)

If you want to upgrade, then you can upgrade using the DVD and then enter new Key once PC is updated. It might even upgrade the win 7 key, stranger things have happened.

There has not been a version of Windows that fits on a CD since Windows 98. Ever since the beginning of this century (the 21st Century), Windows needed a DVD or a USB stick to hold the installation files.

So i just put the CD in and run setup.exe and im done? I know i need to install it but im asking if i can upgrade from win 7 to win 10 with a CD.

run setup off the optical media and it should upgrade win 7 to 10. The cleaner approach is a clean install as it makes everything faster and forces PC to use new drivers

Win XP was the last windows on a CD
Vista onwards are on DVD

Run the windows upgrade assistant as it is
Probably best to check suitability for windows upgrade or clean install before starting as you may find old programs or hardware which are not supported by win 10
Eg old printers ,scanners, tv tuner cards or specialist software etc

To upgrade run setup on win 10 dvd from windows 7
You will/ should get an option to clean install or upgrade

I forgot to say you cant upgrade from 32 bit W 7 to 64 bit Win 10 version

How much RAM do you have in your PC?
