Xbox, playanwhere title

Hey I'm a PC gamer I used to be a console gamer but I want playing state of decay the first one and knew that the sequel was being and saw that its for xbone and windows 10 and its play anywhere. Idk what that means like do I need to own an xbox one and buy the upcoming sequel on the console and then I can play the game on PC or can I buy it on PC and just play it on pc without owning the console.

Check out this page, it pretty much has all the details you are looking for. Play Anywhere means it doesn't matter what platform you bought the game on... as long as it's digital, and on either Xbox One or Win10, you can always play it on the other device. Like own the game on Windows 10 and play it on Xbox One if you have it, or vice versa. and from the list in the link, you can actually see that only State Of Decay 2 is a Play Anywhere title, not the original installment.
