I have a Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce graphics card, which is actually pretty silent. Except for one case: when the speed of the fans is higher than 65-70%, there is a strange vibrating, pulsating, revving noise (such as noise - stop - noise - stop). This happens if the case is standing vertically.
If I place the case horizontally, (keeping the previous fan speed), the noise disappears. If I turn it back vertically, the noise appears again. Judging by this fact, I think that the problem is small and it might be easy to fix it.
I would like to hear some speculations about what might be the cause of this problem and I would like to hear some hints about what to try in order to fix it: e.g. tighten the fans' screws, tighten the backplate's screws (I would really prefer not to RMA the card, because the sound isn't really that annoying).
