Hello, I recently got an MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC installed in my rig. My CPU is an AMD FX-6300 six core, and I have 12GB of RAM. I plan to grab GTA V soon, but i'm a little concerned about the performance. I know that the 6300 isn't the best CPU for games like GTA V. Would my CPU bottleneck the 1050 Ti and cause lag spikes and framerate drops? I have not overclocked the CPU either. I also don't plan to play a lot of multiplayer, if that affects performance.

Should I get a CPU cooler for that or would it be safe to do it with the one that it already has?

No idea what that board is .
Being Asus though I have no doubt at all you'll be able to overclock on it.
I have a 6300 running at 4.4gh on a cheap little m5a78 board.

Yes you need a better cooler than the stock one.

Look at the deepcool gammaxx 300 or the cooler master hyper 103 if on a tight budget.

At 4ghz a 6300 can easily power a 1050ti, I've had one running with a gtx 970 for the last 2 years.
50-60fps on GTA v at high settings.

Everything looks good, and i'll consider the cooler master hyper for my rig. There's really one thing holding me back. From the videos that I have seen replacing a CPU heatsink doesn't look all that easy. The only time I opened my PC was to install the new GPU, and still I got a little nervous.

I researched it, and yes you are very right. It looks way easier to install than the other heatsinks. I will definitely consider it. By the way, do you suggest I upgrade to the FX 8350 later on? Because I see it on the recommended PC specs for GTA V, as well as other games.

To answer your FPS problems in GTA V no you will not experience many problems if any at all, you can run the game anywhere from the lowest settings to high settings with no problems.

At 4ghz the 6300 is about 3fps behind an 8350 so no mate , not a worthwhile upgrade.

The 6300 , no matter how old it is , is still a decent gaming CPU as long as you don't expect 60fps on every game 100% of the time.
Which you won't get with a 1050ti anyway.
