How is 1080p gaming doing right now on the market? Is it still growing or slowly dying out, and when do you think 4k or 1440p will have more users?

Also, what percent of PC Gamers do you think use 1080p, 1440p, 4k?

Solution

I think the fact is that graphics cards saturate 1080p displays now. Which isn't to say they are totally dead, but they are dying.

Anyone thinking of purchasing a 1080p monitor now needs to think carefully.
A) What are you upgrading from. If its a 1080p already, then its probably no upgrade and not even worth the $200
B) What are you driving it with. If it's not a recent GPU [GTX 9xx or greater] then 1080p is where you should halt.

The sweet-spot right now, assuming the graphics horsepower is available, is 1440p at...
For $200, your best to stay at 1080P.

1080P is going to stay alive and well for a long time to come. The biggest reason why is because we've finally reached a state in computer displays where the resolutions are so high res, that you don't need higher resolutions for the most part. Do they look better? Oh of course, but they aren't necessary.

Where as with older 900P monitors, before 1080P came to monitors, it simply wasn't enough screen realistate to stay at those low resolutions. Where as 1080P is enough for the average consumer.

4k if you have a 10xx card and can live with some low frame rates until the next-gen.
