Hey folks,

Looking for some quick advice on which RAM to get - been too long since I last bought RAM to be sure anymore.

For reference:
CPU: i7 2600k
Mobo: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme
PSU: Corsair RM850i
(Current) RAM: Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (2x4)Dominator

Reason I'm looking for new (or just more) RAM, is obviously that 8GB is starting to show its age, albeit I know so is the CPU - but that's a bit outside my current budget to upgrade at the moment.

The RAM I've been looking at more specifically, are:
Crucial Ballistix SP DDR3-1600 DC - 16GB (2x8GB) / 125$ US, 1-3 day delivery
Corsair Vengeance Pro Silver (colour doesn't matter) DDR3 1600MHz 2x8GB / 150$ US, 3-7 days delivery

Or
A second set of Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (2x4) Dominator / 60$ US
(long delivery time, more than a couple of weeks, all retailers in my country are out of stock)

I primarily went for low CAS as, if I understood it correctly, that's what matters most in regards to gaming, whereas hertz is more relevant if you're handling larger computation loads (e.g. servers).

I'm only familiar with Corsair, so don't know how good Crucial are.

Either way, any input is more than welcome - which you'd pick, if there's any alternative, whatnot.

Cheers in advance!

First go to the ASUS site and get the qualified vendor list located here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREME/HelpDesk_QVL/

Then pick from that list and order.

Cheers, however, from what I can tell, that list hasn't been updated since 2011, and according to it my motherboard only supports:

A-DATA
SU3U1333W8G9-B
8GB DS Elpida J4208BASE-DJ-F 9

SAMSUNG
M378B1G73AH0-CH9
8GB DS SAMSUNG K4B4G0846A-HCH9

Although I've been using Corsairs for nigh on 5 years now, so not sure how reliable that list is anymore - or am I missing something? :)

Probably has not been updated as most are not. Crucial does make good ram as does gskill and corsair. So if you stay with the specs for DDR3-1600 or 1333 you will be OK.
