Hello all!

I am not a HUGE gamer. I am simply a casual player who likes to play League of Legends, Civilization V, Darkest Dungeon. I would like to play Final Fantasy XIV at the moment. However, I thought my current system would be enough to play it. I was proved wrong... indeed, with the lowest settings, I can only run the game at 17-20 FPS, which is not good at all.

So, I went to newegg (yes, I am Canadian) and tried to look for a nice GPU without paying 300$!

I found two of them, here are the links:

As I am really clueless in "GPUs" I am seeking for help.

Are those cards any good?
Will it be okay to install it in my computer?

I recently bought a i5-6400, with 8GB RAM. It's an Acer Aspire TC-710 on W10 64bits.

In my research, I was looking for at least 2GB of video RAM... DDR5 of course. Oh, and I need at least 1 HDMI output and 1 DVI one too.

Thanks for you help!

GTX 750Ti any day over the GT 1030.
But if your budget suits, get the GTX 1050 or maybe the GTX 1050TI.
But before all this, check out the output from the 12V rail on the PSU and buy GPU suitably.
As it is a prebuilt, if you don't want to take any risk or don't want to upgrade the PSU, get the 1030.
Happy Gaming!

@Gillhooley - OP has a Acer Aspire with some OEM PSU so he might have to upgrade his PSU for 750Ti or other cards so the GT 1030 in that case would meet OP's needs and suck in less power too.

As everyone else said : stay away from the 1030. Even though its older the 750ti is far better.
But then the RX 560 which is just $40 above the price of the 750ti will offer a significant performance gain over the 750ti.
I suggest you save a bit more and invest it in the RX 560.
But if you do want to be a bit more adventurous and is not in a hurry to upgrade your PC you might also consider looking at used PC parts.
You might find a great deal on a good card if you are lucky.

I suggest you stick with the GTX750ti with that PSU.
Make sure that your PSU has a 6pin PCIe power connector .
There are a few variants of the GTX 750ti that do not require additional 6 pin power .

In terms of performance the rough ranking would be (high -> low):

GTX 1050ti
GTX 1050
GTX 750ti
GTX 1030

In terms of power usage (highest to lowest):
GTX 1050ti
GTX 1050
GTX 750ti
GTX 1030

All that's left after that is cost. The 750ti is still commanding $90-110 USD, the 1050/1050ti is $120-140 USD, the 1030 is about $80-100USD. So - your best power/performance/cost ratio is looking for a good deal on a 750ti. If you could swing a few extra bucks, just get the 1050ti. I wouldn't go for a 1030 unless you got a great deal (sub $50 USD).

I took a look at benchmarks for FFIV, it looks like a 1050 should be your minimum choice for 1080p gaming on that. The 750 Ti/RX 460 and 560 will work but you'll likely need to run at 900p or 720p. You have a decent CPU, that i5, it won't hold you back but a low end videocard will. For your use, I would not bother with the 1030.

Thanks all for your replies.

I will certainly look for the GTX 1050 Ti. At 180$ CAD, it's a pretty good deal in my humble opinion.
