Hi,

I have built an ITX form factor using the SilverStone Milo ML08 case.

I'm currently using an i7 7700 with a low profile Noctua fan and I'm experiencing high temperatures when playing demanding games at high resolution. (75 - 88 degrees).

I know these temperatures are within a safe range but I wanted to ask -

If I changed my CPU to an i5 7600, would I expect to see a great difference in temperatures?

Probably, yeah, but only when you're using more CPU power than the i5 can deliver. i5 and i7 have similar performance per watt - the i7 might actually be slightly better - so in cases where you'd see a temperature drop, you'd also see a corresponding loss in framerate.

Better would be to drop your i7's clockspeed by 1-200mhz. You can do this most easily by changing your Windows Power Plan max CPU state to some number less than 100%.
