I recently ungraded my PC's hardware (GPU, motherboard etc) and Windows 10 is telling me to activate my Windows. My windows had been activated before upgrading my hardware and was running smoothly. I do, however, try to activate it in the settings but can't, it prompts me with an error "Windows can't activate right now. Try activating again later. If that doesn't work, contact support. Error code: 0x80080005" I am running a legit copy of Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) and had no issues until upgrading my hardware.

You may need to contact Microsoft themselves. Explain that your motherboard had to be replaced and you are trying to activate Windows. Once they verify it, it should be activated with no issues.

Sometimes if you wait or try later it will activate. If not call support they will help activate it , the hardware changes deactivated it . Link your setup to a microsoft account and it will activate easier next time.

I had this error once and it cleared itself a few days later.
