Worth getting a Freesync Monitor?

I'm looking to purchase a 1440p monitor. I've found a decently priced 1440p monitor (ASUS PB278Q)but then I recently found out about Freesync monitors. The most reasonably priced 1440p monitor I found with Freesync (Acer - XG270HU) which is about $50 more expensive than the previously mentioned and lacks a VESA mount.

I normally find myself browsing the web and playing video games: The Witcher 3 and Overwatch mostly.

My current setup is:

i5 4690k
MSI R9 390
16gb RAM

Would a Freesync monitor's peformance be worth it for me?

Also any other monitor suggestions would be great.

I gamed on various monitors all at 1080 60p for years on my one and two crossfire R9 290s (the same card as your just not a rebrand).

Bought an Acer xg270hu freesync 1440 144p.. was glorious. Then my main 290 died like 3 days later lool. This monitor without even freesync on is great at 144hz. Speakers suck, but a nice addition. Buy it new so you can be safe in case of dead pixels which is common on the tn panels for freesync.

Bought a 1070, waiting for Vega, soo... Freesync deffo over refresh rate, over resolution.

Yes, since you have a supported card. Totally go for it.

Added note: Freesync will help with fps variations on witcher 3, and this mo It or has like zero ghosting with freesync on in ow for me.
