If i got Intel Optane wouldnt a SSD be pointless?

No. It is simply a small cache for the HDD. Just like SSD's were 6-7 years ago. This is just a slightly faster cache.

And if you have an SSD, Optane is pointless.

And actually, Optane is pretty pointless outside of a data center.
In a few years, when they get to sizes that people can actually use, for a rational price...then Optane may be a viable solution.

Unless you somehow plan to stay under 32gb total storage then no you'll need something else too. Optane makes zero sense outside of the Enterprise environment where .2 seconds a few trillion times might actually pay it back you them.

Heck if an optane is big enough for ya just get 64gb memory and run a ram disk
