Is this a good 1440p monitor for the price?

I found this monitor at amazon.co.uk for £298. Is that a good price for 27'' 1440p monitor?https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00M913DVG/ref=s9_acsd_bw_wf_s_GAME_cdl_58?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-10&pf_rd_r=SXQXG48AQARWRW1ZM79D&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1885017c-3f00-461a-9a9f-a8d4f99d084f&pf_rd_i=9320946031&th=1

27" is a good size for 2560x1440. Anything smaller than that and you'll probably have to adjust the DPI scaling to make icons and text more legible.

The monitor I suggested is 1920x1080, yes, but it has a 144hz refresh rate and Freesync, both of which you may appreciate more than increased resolution. You're unlikely to find a good 2560x1440 IPS monitor with gaming chops for £300, so the deciding factor is between resolution or smoothness. As a gamer who has a 2560x1440 IPS monitor, I'd gladly go back to 1920x1080 and gain a silky-smooth frame rate in the process.

Hi Badger_Knight,

That is a good monitor but the AOC Lopperuk linked is better. For starters, the AOC has a 1ms response time compared to the 4ms response time of the BenQ. My friend also owns the AOC and he absolutely loves it and has had zero issues with it.

Hope this helps,

Leemon

The one I found was on a bigger discount, do you think it is really any better? The other one's RRP is £540
I would prefer an IPS panel, also.

I don't care too much about a 1ms response time as I don't play many multiplayer games, and would probably prefer an IPS panel, but I don't mind too much. My main reason for interest in the BenQ was the £540 RRP, do you think this matters or is the other one better?

You're only really going to benefit from an IPS panel if you need colour accuracy or if you're viewing the monitor at an angle. For gaming, a TN panel with Freesync or G-Sync would offer a better experience.

Let's forget about specs for a minute and go back to basics; the BenQ has a fully adjustable stand and the AOC does not. The BenQ also has an HDMI input and the AOC does not.

A monitor that doesn't offer something as basic as a height-adjustable stand just screams of being a cheap and nasty product in my opinion.

If you have an AMD GPU then this monitor should be high on your consideration list; https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-G2460PF-Response-Adustable-Speakers/dp/B01BV1XBEI/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1497969580&sr=1-3&keywords=aoc+freesync.
