Hi all,

I'm looking for a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 4K/60Hz (4096 x 2160) adapter that will work at 10 bits, but all I find is 8 bits. Is there such an adapter in the market?

Thanks in advance :)

Solution
You have DP 1.2 on those cards - while they can't do the higher resolutions at 60Hz, they can do ~4K @ 60-75Hz w/10bit.

mDP to DP, or just DP to DP and you should be fine. No adapter required.

Still very confused where Apple came into the mix though.

Which GPU are you using? Prior to 10series, I believe nVidia limited to 8bit to 'force' pro's to buy Quadros etc. I believe a driver revision opened this up a little while ago. AMD offerings supported 10bit.

Anyway, to the point: provided the card can do 10bit and the interface and display can, then the adapter shouldn't impact anything.

DP 1.4 can, HDMI 2.0 can, I assume your display can..... the adapter shouldn't play any factor IMO.

The fact you have a mDP intrigues me though.... which GPU are you using?

Sorry, I forgot to put that.
I use dual AMD R9 480 3GB cards. The monitor would be an LG 31MU97B.
The problem is that I read that Apple's drivers were only capable of working at 4096 x 2160 in 50Hz mode and that a mini DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 adapter was needed to reach that resolution in 60Hz. But all the adapters I see are limited to 8bit

Which GPU? I don't believe R9 480's exist. The only 3GB R9 cards I'm aware of are 280's and 280X's.
And the RX480's are 4GB minimum.... so I'm not sure what you meant to type there?

Not sure where Apple come into the mix?

Now that you've mentioned the specific monitor, HDMI 2.0 is of no use to you anyway:
http://4k.com/monitor/a-review-of-the-lg-electronics-ips-digital-cinema-31mu97-b-31-0-inch-screen-led-lit-monitor/

HDMI 1.4 only. So 3840×2160 @ 30Hz / 4096×2160 @ 24 Hz is all you can do while using the HDMI (1.4) input on the monitor.

I don't see why you can't simply run either DP or mDP to achieve 60Hz @ 4K? Card has at least the mDP (whichever GPU it is) and the monitor accepts the input. And DP 1.2 can do 4K @ 75Hz.....

Depending on which GPU you have specifically, it may* have DP 1.3 which can do
3840×2160 @ 120 Hz with 24 bit color
5120×2880 @ 60 Hz with 30 bit
or
7680×4320) @ 30 Hz with 24 bit

*If you meant an R9 card, I believe there's only DP1.2
If you meant an RX480 4GB, then there should be DP1.3/1.4

Barty is right, just use a MDP to DP cable, they exist, I own a couple of them from an old AMD card I had.
