HD 5970 artifacts

Hi,

I bought a second hand HD 5970 for my collection (so it isn't a huge problem for me) and it show's artifacts in windows when I install the drivers. It doesn't show them in BIOS but only in windows.

I contacted the prev owner and he told me that on his 650W PSU it had artifacts and on his 850W it hasn't.

I have a 750W and should be fine i think.

Now my question: Is it the card that is bad or is the driver the bad one here? and is there a way to fix it?

Again it is not a problem that it doesn't work because it itsn't my primary card but I would like to try and fix it if i can!

I hope some of you can help me with this issue

If the card had artifacts, it's a failing card. Many cards that are bad work fine before you install the drivers, then when it actually starts being used you will see artifacts or crashes.
