Hi everyone.
I have to choose a carrier and I would like to pick one where they teach me how to design a cpu.

I have been searching in google but I haven't found in which degree they teach ypu to do it.

I know that this forum is not usually used for this but I didn't know where to ask.

Don't take me very serious but as far as I know that requieres a lot of knowledge on the topic, you must be some sort of engineer that kind of stuff.

The CPUs are designed by engineers from Intel or AMD, they work on things such as the memory controller, the way cores are spreaded all over the die, etcetera

Thank you everyone. It is what I thought but I wasn't sure.

Now the problem is that I Don't know which one to chose:
computer engineering or electronics engineering xD

I don't know of any degree that specialises in CPU engineering or any college that would teach that.
That type of engineer would probably need a degree in computer engineering or computer science.
And while studying for that degree you'll find that you'll learn NOTHING about engineering a CPU.

Direct from Intel:
"...typically have bachelor's or advanced degrees in computer science, or electrical, electrical and computing, or mechanical engineering."

You need a minimum of a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. Focus on courses in digital circuit design and system architecture. Learn everything you can about VHDL, circuit simulation, Mentor Graphics and Credence design tools.

I think computer engineering is computing as a whole, that includes hardware, software, OS, networking, scheduling, etc.

Electronics engineering focuses more on the hardware environment.

Go for either electronics engineering or hardware engineer depending on your opportunities.

Good luck!

IDK, what about VIA?

It has nothing to do with my question since they've gone bankrupt.

If I was you, I would use what ever method you used to find out about VIA's bankruptcy and apply it to finding your own answer to what AMD would like to see for its applicants.
