Recently my PC ran into a problem. For a first few days the computer became slow while using chrome and startup took more time than usual. Then one day when i turned on the PC monitor showed "no signal detected" and i cleared the cmos after a quick research. I was able to startup to windows but boots directly into welcome screen skipping BIOS splash screen.
My PC is an outdated one and i have just installed windows 10. I thought it is due to that reason and went on to install windows 7. But the pc went to black screen after the first restart and had to force shut down my pc.

My desktop specs~~
CPU--Intel Core2 Duo E7400 @
RAM--2 x 2 GB DDR2
GPU--ATI Radeon HD 4600

If it's a USB keyboard, try it in another port, or try another...

Hi, try holding down the key that you usually use to get into BIOS while powering up the system at the same time. Common keys to get into BIOS are F1, F2, F10, F12, Delete. If you don't know the key, you can try guessing or looking it up in your motherboard documentation.

Once in BIOS, look for a Boot Speed or Quick Boot type of setting and turn it off or set it to Normal.

I really don't understand the problem/question. Is Windows still booting up? Are you on Windows 10 or Windows 7? Is the problem just that you don't see the BIOS screen and therefore cannot access the BIOS and you need to get into BIOS?

Are you just getting a black screen and nothing more at all (no bootup or nothing)?

The BIOS is built into the motherboard. Which motherboard do you have? If you don't know, which PC do you have? Give more system info.

This happened after clearing the BIOS correct? How did you clear it? Remove the battery for X minutes?

Sorry for all of the questions, but the more info you can give the better help you will get here. (I may not be able to help but I'm sure others can).

I installed windows 10 last month. When windows is booting up(after the problem started), computer would skip the BIOS splash screen and go directly into welcome screen and i couldn't access BIOS. Yesterday i could access BIOS by changing jumper position and set everything to default settings.
Now the computer boots up normally but sooo weird. Even the windows explorer hangs for a few minutes.

Motherboard--DG31PR

The reason I wanted motherboard info was to try to look it up to figure out the BIOS problem, but I think you've got that fixed (at least for now). That's good news.

For the explorer crash, have you tried using SFC yet? [More Info] Open a command prompt (run as Admin) and type SFC /scannow. SFC will replace and fix any missing system files which in return may fix your explorer problem. If you get errors, try running it a few times. Reboot when done. Let me know what SFC says.

I had a thought that all this occured when i installed windows 10(which is barely compatible) on this motherboard. I was even surprised to see it work on my pc!!
So i decided to roll back to windows 7. At first due to the BIOS problem the windows 7 installation was not possible. As I have already fixed it, now i have installed windows 7 again and everythingis back to normal.
So i guess my mobo is soo old not enough to run windows 10.
Anyway thnx for the replies and hope this helps for other people too... :)

Update-When I opened up my PC to clear cmos, i messed up and keyboard port is not working anymore. :D
I surely will have to take my pc to the shop now.

If it's a USB keyboard, try it in another port, or try another keyboard if possible.

Moving older PCs around often causes problems, I know this from experience. I have a 17 year old Dell Dimension and I've moved it around alot. Each time I do I usually have problems booting again. Either the graphics card comes lose, a RAM chip comes lose, or something else happens.

Try wiggling the cord around, unplug it and replug it in. Might not help but its worth a try.

I hope you get it fixed.
