samsung monitor for gaming?

It's great but optimized for AMD video cards! Since you already went for Ryzen, get yourself an amd card like RX 580. It's marginally worse than the 1070 but since you're not aiming for 4K you should not care about 5-10 FPS difference. Also there will be games optimized for AMD, running Vulkan technology. And AMD cards are better with DX12 at 1080p resolutions.
