Stuck On Old Windows Update

Hello,

so, few months back I wanted to download the anniversary update for Windows 10. The update downloaded normally and started installing. But it got stuck at 71%. So after I waited a few hours if it runs and it didn't, I've turned off my laptop and then it restored to last version of Windows. I tried to install it again and it was stuck on 71% again. I waited over night that time, didn't help. So I kind of gave up and continued using my laptop without the update.

Now I wanted to try to get the update again (I guess it's not the best idea to leave Windows with an old update). So I backed up all my files and did the Windows reset from settings - I choose the one where it deletes all my data but doesn't reset to OS that came with my laptop (I've upgraded from 8.1 to 10). So I did that, Windows 10 reinstalled (and I'm using it now) and it wanted me to update, so I've let it update. After it successfully downloaded, it asked me to restart computer and it will install. The installation got stuck on 71% again and won't go further (also on 71% the loading animation with those dots circulating freezes). Anyone please help?

Thanks,
Dominic.

If the PC won't behave, and you are willing to lose all your data on drive, I would fresh install using latest version and you will skip the Anniversary edition entirely

download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

On the screen where you choose where to install win 10, if it gives you an error about GPT drives, delete all the partitions on the hdd and press next. If it still gives error...

If it still gives error, cancel out of the installer and restart PC and start installer again, it will accept next on that screen this time (some PC just need a restart here)
