If I plug in my computer unit to a different monitor, what screen resolution would appear?

Just a quick question of not much importance. We have to bring laptops for our practical exam next week, but I don't have one so I'll be bringing my desktop unit instead (since they already have monitors there).

My current screen resolution is set to 1366x768. If I plug this computer unit to a monitor there (which I assume is 1920x1080), would that monitor show a 1366x768 display, or will it automatically change to 1920x1080? Either way, would I be able to change it to the other?

Specs: (Not sure if this'll matter)
i5-7400
GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB
8GB RAM
Win10 Pro Edition

Your resolution will remain until you change it to 1080p. 1366x768 probably wont look too bad for school work so could probably leave it as is.

But if you do change to a higher resolution for school, remember to change it back to 1366x768 otherwise your own monitor wont show a display, needing to boot into safemode and change it there.

Thanks! Just the answer I needed. Quick follow-up though: Would a 1366x768 look worse on a 1080p monitor than a 768p monitor even if they are of the same size?

Depends on the monitor, it might look ok, just see how it looks
