Large house and unable to hardwire - Gaming

Moving into a new house (rental) and would like to get the best connection I can for gaming on my PC. I won't have the option (for now) of running a hard wire from the router to the PC. What would be my option for getting the fastest connection I can?

I have heard repeaters basically chop your connection speed so I am wondering if an access point is the way to go or not. I am pretty new to the home networking idea so any and all info would be awesome. Thanks!

Power line adapters, I have had excellent results with them. Remember gaming needs very little download bandwidth but is very reliant on a low ping. Wireless for gaming is the worst case scenario.

Powerline devices. Or, if the house is already wired with coax throughout...MOCA devices.

Any WiFi solution is a distant last of any available connection types.
