Hey, I'm looking for a monitor under $200 to go with a Gtx1080. My options at the moment is an Acer g247hyu 24" 1440p 60hz monitor, or an Acer gn246hl 24" 1080p 144hz monitor. Which should I go with it are the any one someone can suggest.

In that case, go with the 1440p...sure you will lose a bit of performance in BF1, but if you don't play it that much, it wouldn't hurt that much. But you get to enjoy the extra details in games. Who knew EA designed grass blades so well?

That's just my three cents.

Depends on the type of games that you play. Higher refresh rate monitors are awesome in first person shooters, but you may appreciate the higher detail that the 1440p monitor provides in other types of games.

Personally, I couldn't go back to a 60hz monitor after using 144hz for about a year. But I am also a competitive gamer playing mostly FPS games.

In my opinion, a 24" monitor is too small for 1440p. That's the 1080p sweet spot (27"-30" being the sweet spot for 1440p). With that said, it's a highly subjective question based on personal preference and what your eyes can appreciate as well as the games you play.

For my eyes and games, I prefer 1440p at 60Hz over a faster 1080p monitor (and I've used both). Most of my gaming is racing (Project Cars, DiRT Rally/DiRT 4, Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom Experience) and there is no noticeable difference between 60Hz at 1440p and 120Hz at 1080p (both Vsync FPS capped).

I much prefer the higher resolution as it helps with track draw distance and clarity on what's ahead. Now for shooters, specifically FPS shooters, there's a noticeable difference. Especially when moving the mouse view around rapidly. It's much more fluid. Others may have a completely opposite opinion, but that's mine as one who has used both types of monitors.

Thanks guys, it will be used for Fifa 17 (avg 200fps) FSX (Avg 40fps) mainly. I do enjoy GTAV and Car games. Don't play shooters really but I may consider some like bf1. Which one would you guys go with?
