Hook up a 144hz monitor to my gaming laptop at 1080p

So i know this has been asked before but nothing helped.

I bought a new 144hz monitor from benq xl2411z that only comes with a dvi - dual link cable.

and want to hook it up to my gaming laptop that is a predator 15 from acer that comes with a thunderbolt 3 port and displayport

- checking nvidia's settings and display settings i can only find 60hz from the drop down list.
- im also using a displayport to dvi-dual link adapter.


is it that my laptop can't support it? or can it support it but there's another issue.

any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!!!

i'm sure it's the adapter, for you to play at 144hz you need a usb powered adapter like this > http://a.co/gz2v055
