So I'm building a PC and tbh I know nothing about it. I've copied Windows 10 onto a USB but that's all I really know how to do. I was just wondering how you install it on a new PC and at what point do you boot up the USB in the building process?

ELI5 please.

Solution

Just unhook the data and power cables. They can be physically installed int he case.

"copied Windows 10 onto a USB"
How, exactly did you do this?

Go here and follow the instructions:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

When to install it?
After the system is built, and you can power up and see the BIOS on the monitor.
Then, power off, connect your USB, boot from that.

Yeah, that is the tool I used. So after I build the PC, I just put in the USB and run it after powering on the PC. Sounds easy enough, how do I save it to my SSD. Sorry if I sound stupid.

You have to boot from that.

Disconnect ALL drives except for the SSD that you want Windows on.

Assuming you built the USB properly....
Power OFF, plug the USB in, power ON
If all goes well, you should be presented with the starting sequence for installing the OS.
