Possible Faulty GPU/Motherboard

I have the following parts currently in my computer:
ASROCK z97 extreme6 motherboard
i7-4790k cpu
GTX 970 4gb gpu
corsair hx850 psu
ripjaw x series 4x8gb
windows 7 pro
intel 850 ssd 1tb, 256gb
2tb hhd WD black

I have been trying to play several games and they all crashed shortly after I get into the game. The first time I got an error 0x000000124 or something close to that not sure how many zeros. Everything non-game related runs fine with the GPU installed. I ran a memory test first because it was the easiest with no errors reported. At this point I believe I have a bad Motherboard or GPU. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to test either out and narrow it down.

I ran a CPU test from an Intel program it passed everything and seems to be fine. I am now leaning to a GPU/motherboard more than before. Havent found any way to test the motherboard.
