PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62
Case: NZXT S340
Mobo: Asrock AB350 Pro ATX
RAM: 16 gb G.skill 2666mhz
GPU: ASUS 1070 dual port 1607 MHz

The listed specs above is the current computer i have. I am overclocking for the first time and was wondering what i should be aiming for in terms of clock speed as well as voltage. Any tips, or recommended settings would be very helpful. I am currently using the stock cooler for the CPU for the last month, but i got my NZXT Kraken x62 today and am very excited to use it. The main reason for this post is: i need any help i can get on how to OC correctly without ruining my CPU and doing it correctly. Thanks for any help.

i thought Ryzen should not exceed 1.35v for long time OC

Also, what are the ideal temps at that range. I was aiming for 3.8ghz. About a 25-27% increase in clock performance.

I'm assuming your main purpose is gaming?
You won't need more than 3.8GHz.
Memory speed has far more influence.
I would say make sure your RAM runs at 2666MHz first, then worry about overclocking CPU.

Anyway,
I'm hitting 3.8Ghz stable with just 1.27-ish vcore on 1700X;

The lower your vcore, the less heat and power (and subsequently noise) you generate.
Start at 1.35Volts and check if your system is stable.
If not, give a bit more.
If yes, you can try a bit lower.

With Ryzen, at least 3000Mhz is preferred, but nothing he can do if he already has the system.
I just recommended a store preapplied OC we use, since while it is generally above the usual 1.3-1.35v 4.8GHz setting you'd usually see, it ensures a stable overclock with little hassle and still solid temps, less fiddling around. :)
I would suggest, if you're up for it, to set to 1.3v, then go to 3.8GHz, see if that's stable, then if still unstable, go to 1.325v, then 1.35v, followed finally by 1.375v if the last two were still poor.

So when OCing the CPU, the only things im changing is the v_core voltage and the multiplier correct. Nothing else.

As far as OCing the memory, can you provide instructions on how to do this correctly.

do i have to change the voltage to it or anything?

Well i overclocked the RAM to its actual speed. As far as stability testing, do i just use cinebench or what?
