After several (several!) years, I've decided to build my own PC due to my previous desktop dying unexpectedly. Without undue ado, below is what I'm considering purchasing:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($269.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($132.99 @ Best Buy)
Storage: MyDigitalSSD - BPX 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($114.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB WINDFORCE OC 8G Video Card ($514.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ Amazon)

The above isn't an exhaustive list of the components I'm considering purchasing; for example, I'll probably add in a much larger HDD for bulk storage at a reasonable price. However, this represents the 'core' components I'm currently planning to buy. Advice on the build above would be welcome. Specifically, any advice on the SSD I selected? It is primarily intended to be a system drive and I chose it primarily based on this Tom's review.

My second, potentially odd/interesting, question is about this Lian Li case I bought circa 2000ish. I've always loved this case (enough to keep it around for 10 years for some future project) and while I can certainly easily afford a new case, is there any reason this case couldn't be used with today's hardware (size, etc)?

I suggest getting the samsung 960evo. As for the case the change is USB 3.0/3.1 front panel. You could get the Gigabyte VR 5.25 to add the newer USB. http://

Thanks for the reply! I think I'll take your suggestion of the 960 EVO.

Do you have a suggestion for a set of (3) 80mm case fans? I'd like something that both moves air enough to keep things cool and is relatively quiet. I was looking at getting a set of these. Do you think the amount of air moved by 3 of these would be enough for modern hardware?
