How can I find out what version my HDMI port is?

I have an ASUS K501UW-AB78 laptop and I`m trying to figure out which HDMI version the port is? (1.4 or 2.0)

If it is a 1.4 port, can I use a 2.0 HDMI cable?

And how would a 1.4 or 2.0 work with 144hz monitor?

Probably HDMI 1.4 which would max out at 1080p@120FPS, not 144. You can use a 2.0 cable. I can't find any specs, but usually if it's 2.0, they put it as a selling point.

Just a follow up, would a decrease in resolution in game settings, 1366x768 for example, change anything?
